John Mach, M.D., is the President and General Manager of Complex Case Management, one of Univita’s strategic business units. Dr. Mach brings more than 25 years of extensive clinical and executive business expertise in providing geriatric, chronic disease and disability health care.
During his time as Chief Medical Officer for XL Health, Dr. Mach led all clinical program development, medical management and quality improvement efforts in support of Medicare Chronic Illness Special Needs Plans. His background includes more than 20 years of combined service for UnitedHealth Group as Chief Medical Officer for Ovation, and its division, Evercare, where he served as President and Chairman and received the Geriatrics Society’s Foundation for Health in Aging Impact Award in 2009 and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Top 24 Innovative Care Models recognition in 2008. He has also served as Acting Director of the Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center at the VA Medical Center/University of Minnesota.
Dr. Mach holds an MD from the University of Minnesota Medical School where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics and is a member of the John Hartford Foundation Board of Trustees, the largest private financial supporter of geriatrics research in the country. Dr. Mach is a member of the American Geriatrics Society, the American Medical Directors Association and the Minneapolis Society of Internal Medicine.
