Launch of new “independent aging” company will address the needs of the growing senior population

Univita Health will provide an integrated approach to home-based care and support.

Scottsdale, AZ, December 15, 2008 – The launch of a new company aimed at promoting and supporting a home-centered approach to independent aging was announced today. Univita Health is introducing new programs and innovating existing services to help individuals maintain independence at home as they age.

Univita was created to address this opportunity by transforming the home into a place to age safely, monitor and receive care, and live an entire life with dignity.

In addition to directly servicing in-home care needs such as home health care, infusion therapy, and providing home medical equipment, Univita is developing a virtual marketplace for individuals to find a range of associated products and services.  Univita is also applying unique technologies to improve communication between patients, families, caregivers, and physicians.

Univita plans to assist individuals and families by providing personalized assessments and decision support tools, including financial planning and support.  As part of this strategy, Univita has merged with Minnesota-based Long Term Care Group — a leader in long term care insurance services including administration and underwriting, clinical assessments, claims processing, and care management.

Long Term Care Group administers 20% of the long term insurance policies in the country.  Its clients include major multi-line insurance companies and all of the leading Long Term Care carriers.  Long Term Care Group has 1,200 employees and 27,000 cases under active management.
