Scottsdale, Ariz. – October 22, 2010 – Univita Health, an organization focused on providing the full range of services and support needed to enable a home-centered approach to independent aging, announced today the promotion of Stephen K. Holland, M.D., to Chief Medical Officer.
Holland formerly served as Medical Director for Univita and will now be responsible for overseeing the company’s clinical programs, criteria and standards across the enterprise. He will also lead Univita’s team of Medical Directors, who provide clinical leadership and support to the strategic business units within Univita.
“Dr. Holland is a highly accomplished health care innovator and recognized widely for his in-depth clinical knowledge and dedication to the long-term care industry,” says Hugh Lytle, president and chief executive officer of Univita. “He has played an integral role in building our company during the past decade, and I look forward to the strategic thinking and dynamic leadership he will bring to our senior management team.”
Prior to joining Univita, Dr. Holland was the Senior Vice President and Medical Director of Long Term Care Group (LTCG), where he was lead author of LTCG’s Guide to Long Term Care Underwriting, now in its 11th edition. From 1990-1997, he was a Principal and the Medical Director of a managed care software company, Optimed Medical Systems, and served as the Medical Director at the Health Data Institute in Boston from 1985-1988.
Dr. Holland received his Doctorate of Medicine from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington and completed a fellowship in Health Care Policy as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of Washington, School of Medicine. Dr. Holland received his Board Certification from the American College of Physicians; he is a past member of the Congressional Task Force on Technology-Dependent Children and is currently an advisor to the State of California Legislative Advisory Committee on Access to Insurance for Disabled California Employees.
